National Summit on Arts Journalism
For many years I have been reading a daily posting of blogs and articles compiled by Arts Journal. They review over 200 sources daily for articles pertaining to the arts and to culture. There are additionally quite a number of regular journalists who blog there. I receive a daily as well as a weekly summary of their findings and writings. This Friday, 2 October 2009, will be the first ever National Summit on Arts Journalism. This is being held in Los Angeles. The summit will be streaming live between 9 am (09:00) to 1 pm (13:00) Pacific Time (-8 GMT, I think) and they hope to have online conversations going throughout. I have agreed to host the stream and hopefully a conversation here on Creative Influences. So return on Friday to see what is going on in Los Angeles and participate in the conversation.
Let me see if I can get the chat to happen, here:

I sure hope I have this right. You know how I struggle with these things.
If you want to also host this summit on your blog, please visit Doug’s posting to learn more about it. As artists we all depend on each other and the journalists can be ever so helpful.

This sounds really cool! Thanks for the link to Arts Journal, I’ll have to check that out when I have a moment. Unfortunately I’ll be at work during the summit, but I’d love to hear how it went!!
Miranda, I think you will really enjoy reading Arts Journal. I look forward to it each day and it serves to remind me of the far reaching hand of art (in all forms) and our amazing connection to culture. I am not an arts journalist, but it seems right to me to at least lend an ear to this important part of art as we depend on each other so much. Thanks Miranda!
