Research Update
I have been traveling a little bit for my research and the home city of this bridge has played an important part of the work I am doing. Do you know this bridge? Do you know the city? I traveled here with my daughter and one night we took a boat ride down this river in the middle of the city! I know you know where I have been. Let’s try another photo:
Were you right, did you guess the bridge was the Pont Neuf in Paris? This bridge was build between 1577 and inaugurated by Henry IV in 1607 and is one of the most famous bridges in Paris. Of course, even if you did not know the Pont Neuf, you knew right away when you saw the photo of the Eiffel Tower!
You are right, I did not go to Paris for the bridges or the monuments. I went to become inspired and that happened, too. I have made some decisions about my art which I will be sharing with you, and which I am very excited about.
I know many of you want to know if I caught up with Andrea of Parisdreamtime while I was in her city. The answer is YES! Andrea has known about this trip since I made the decision to go. She, her wonderful family and friends shared their city with my daughter and me and introduced us to many wonderful experiences which influenced my research so much. This was my fourth trip to Paris, and I still find the wonder of this city amazing. I traveled to places there I had not been before and explored some outlying areas, too.
I look forward to sharing this trip with you as the weeks and months progress. For now, I am back to my research and settling everyone back into our home. It is wonderful to have us all under one roof again!

pretty nice research! So wonderful you took this trip with your daughter and got to meet up with Andrea too. I am glad you are inspired and renewed too. it inspires me to hear about it!
Hello Suki! Yes, this is very nice research and I am so blessed to be able to travel. Taking this trip with my daughter was great as it is a city the two of us love to explore. Andrea and her husband were amazing, and it was so good to see them again (if you remember it was a year ago when we caught up together in NYC).
Wonderful pictures, I especially love the one of the Pont Neuf, where you can see all those faces I told you about, Henry the 4th having had the funny idea of leaving a souvenir of his ministers like that:) They all look a bit insane, some have their tongues out and other are looking like wild animals:) – this is a wonderful shot and it reminds me of the wonderful time we had here together!
Thanks Andrea! I like this photo of Pont Neuf as well! Those faces are so funny and your story of Henry IV having these sculptures of his ministers going all the way around the bridge was great! That Henry must have had some sense of humor!
We had such a great time with you. The city came alive with excitement as you showed us so many wonderful places and shared some stories one doesn’t usually get to hear! I also LOVED the art supply shops! I am missing you, your family and Paris!
I can imagine that your trip has filled you up with inspiration, Kim, and to have shared that time with Andrea must have been truly amazing!
.
Love the photos – and am looking forward to seeing more as you settle back at home.
Also looking forward to hearing about your new ideas

Hello Lesley!
This trip was wonderful and opened a lot of doors for me. As you probably know this was my first trip back to Europe since we moved back here. I realized how important that influence has been on my work and hope I can honor that knowledge as I move things forward from here.
I will be showing more photos as time goes on and talking about some of the things we did while we were there.
One day, I will get to Golden Bay! What a dream that would be, too!
Thank you again, my friend!
Dear Kim,
It has been a while since I talked to you. Thank you for taking a look at my blog – I have not been able to paint regularly so posting is a bit erratic.
My granddaughter came to live with us last summer; keeping me very busy.
She’ll be going to college in August.
i am so happy that you were able to travel to Paris with your daughter and visit with Andrea. I am due for a visit myself, soon. i love your doors’ drawings – you and Andrea inspired me to create pen and inks, adding a bit of watercolors.
I have been trying to sell my paintings on ebay, hummm…I am not very successful although I sold two prints last week. I came to the conclusion that selling on ebay is probably not the best venue for my work. I am still going after galleries….found one and two others are interested. Persistence is a good thing!
By the way, your photos of Paris are beautiful. I do love the “Pont Neuf”, my favorite bridge in Paris.
Have a great day.
Talk to you soon.
Love,
Danielle
Hello Danielle, I am so happy to be back in contact with you and am loving the blog postings, too. I am sure your granddaughter is keeping you busy, that is an age which requires a lot of energy to be sure, but you will get a different kind of freedom when she heads off to college.
I love France so much and Paris is a great city. There is so much to do and see. Andrea is wonderful, as you already know. Do you think you will be able to see her when you are in France?
I am so glad you are inspired by the door drawings. European doors, and especially French ones, are so appealing to me. I suppose it is because they are so different from No. American ones. Isn’t it interesting how just a touch of color makes all the difference in a pen and ink drawing?
I have never worked with ebay, so I can’t even offer any insights there. If I had to guess, though, your work is far too good for that venue. Maybe they do sell some quality fine art pieces, however. Galleries are quite the challenge in these economic times. I do have to do better with those connections, too. It always seems every time I get myself psyched up enough to approach them, something comes along and we are moving or something like that, again. I am sure you will do well and these 2 galleries will be clamoring after your paintings. They are truly incredible.
“Pont Neuf” is breathtaking, isn’t it? At night those bridges take on a whole new life! I am glad you are enjoying the photographs. I will try to get them all collected and put in one place for people to enjoy. Since I began watermarking my photos, I find the extra step takes a lot more time to work through, so it takes me longer to do these things I want to do.
Oh, Danielle, it is so great to have you back!
Love,
Kim
