Doors Opening and Closing

Where will this door lead me?

As you may have guessed, I have been away for a bit.  It seems doors are opening and closing all the time now (maybe it is because I am looking for them).  When I travel, I find my work becomes very charged with new ideas and new explorations.  This time is not different.  The challenge is there are also a lot of personal things needing my attention at the moment.  Do you ever find there are too many other things pulling you away from your creativity?  Things like insurance drive me nuts – too much linear thinking involved.  I am also not a phone person, so that doesn’t help, does it?  Over the next little while, I will share with you some of my trip experiences.  For now, I am off to get some of these things done, so I can eventually open the studio door and get some work done!  I love that so much!

ah kim. i adoor this door. (smile). I know just what you mean about the left brained linear stuff. I am having to do a lot of left brained decisions right now and am finding it hard. i too am not a big phone person either. I dont see myself doing any art work in the foreseeable future as I am now packing all the stuff I had out to use. Good luck opening the studio door. Cant wait to hear abt your travels.

:) and I adoor you, Suki! Argh, I also find all of that left brained stuff brutal and not being a phone person makes it even more difficult, doesn’t it? One thing I have learned is if I don’t get my creative time, I am not any good to anyone. I will really get weighted down with it all and everything goes to hell. I dread the day I have to pack up all of my art supplies. It happens, although I have learned how important it is to pack/keep an art bag during transitions. I am eager to hear if there is a big reason for this packing up… I will be back later with some travel tales! Thanks Sweet Suki!

  • Love the door painting. wow. Suki has me wondering now too. .. and you too. Where have you been this time. Look forward to the travel tails. I have been having to do a lot of things I would rather not be doing right now. so Art work isnt coming forth to much right now but I am thinking of it a lot. I dont do to bad with the phone as my Mom always stuck me with doing the phoning even to Relatives. She hated the phone. My Husband HATES the phone so someone has to do it. :) ) Thanks for you lovely comments on my blog post. Con is doing better with that poison oak rash now. Not itching so much. but its also not totally gone. There’s a door that can close now and stay closed. lol

Thank you, Cris! I have been in a place you have heard about before from me :-) We so needed this break as my DH has a very stressful position and had not had any time away for many months. As you probably realize, this means all of us are stressed, so this trip was absolutely necessary.

I understand how your creativity can close down when you are dealing with health issues. I have been there and for me it can be an old pattern. I have to do better at utilizing the opportunity to realize the healing of my art and move that forward. I will tend to fall back on old patterns, so I understand completely where you are with this. I also understand, as I have said before, the challenges of the thyroid! Good for you with the phone…it truly gets to me. Con is lucky to have you in so many ways.

I am glad to hear Con is doing better with the poison oak! I can’t imagine dealing with that and am very grateful I have never had to do so. It is pure misery to see, so having it must be hell! I agree with you, let’s keep that door closed!

Is it the change of seasons that makes us feel like things are changing at the moment? Spring is on its way here and consequently there are lots of mundane chores round here. Is it just that whenever I am busy I want to sit and doodle, or that I really miss sitting and doodling when I am busy?
As always, Kim, I enjoy your gentle, peaceful paintings.

Ha Ha Ha Lesley, I know just what you mean about wanting to sit and doodle when you have mundane chores to take care of around the house. That is just the way if feels to me today. Maybe it is the change of season, I don’t know. It sure seem as though there has been a lot of change going on, but maybe it is just that I am more aware of it around me, I am not sure. You know, Lesley, I always love your kind, thoughtful responses here. You always give me something special to consider. Thank you so much!

Thank you Sabi! My week is so busy as I have just returned from a 2 week trip and also have 2 family birthdays to celebrate…not to mention some other business to take care of quickly. I hope you are well and your plans are moving forward smoothly.

  • So charming! Haven’t been around for a bit. Glad to see you are still here and your usual wonderful self.
