How it works for me -

Sometimes it is difficult to “get into the groove” to make meditation happen.  I have had success with creating a sequence in order to progress with some regular practice.  For me, it works well in the morning, but you might find another time of day is successful.  This is the sequence which has been successful for me:

  • hatha yoga ending with at least 5 minutes of complete relaxation
  • light a candle and sit in cobbler’s pose for a 10 minutes without thinking about anything
  • move slowly into a short guided meditation of choice
  • return from guided meditation, have a cup of tea
  • journal about this experience

I am sure this is different for everyone, but it really helps to center me.  When I can practice this each it the result is amazing.  That does not happen often, but it remains a goal.

Please share with me what works for you.  Do you find a particular sequence is a positive practice in finding your center?
