Guided Meditation

After years of trying guided meditations, I found Brian Weiss, MD!  His recorded meditations are very helpful as his soothing, calm voice leads me into the core of my being.  You can purchase the CD’s individually or purchase small books with the CD included.  I do not have to think about a thing, which actually is preferable in meditation, except following his voice and his words as they take me along this path to where I need to access what I already know about myself.

I have tweaked one of his meditations to use before I begin to paint.  It helps me connect with my muse in a very focused way and when I use this my art work flows a lot easier.  I actually consider my practice a part of my work.  I have shared this meditation here.

When you first practice meditation, it seems and feels like it will never work out.  You have to stick with it, try different things and techniques.  I spent years trying to keep my mind focused on the task at hand or not focused – in other words trying to keep my thoughts from creeping into my head.  I am still working to keep my focus and learn new techniques.  For me, what works the best is setting up a practice – a sequence, if you will.  You can find that sequence in these pages here.

Do you meditate?  What works for you?
