This is an image of an installation in Brazil of artist, JR. Tomorrow, 2 March at 5:00 pm Pacific Time, JR will reveal his wish to change the world. He has been given this year’s TED prize and will receive help in making his wish come true. You can learn more about JR on the TED site and sign up to learn how to watch JR’s talk live tomorrow.

The Gift of the Holidays

It is the season for giving, although artist seem to always be giving of themselves. As many of you know this autumn has been a challenge for my family, although there are many who face challenges beyond my imagination. Earlier, I was asked if I would be willing to donate some of my work to Minnesota Adopt (a non-profit organization working to place children in adoptive homes), and I was honored to do so. Because of some size restrictions, I donated this triptych of 5 x 5 inch tiles. This piece is titled Progression and is in acrylic with powdered pigment.

May you all have a Very Happy Holiday Season and may 2011 be all you can imagine!

Giving Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I know many of you are not Americans, however this is an exciting week for us in the US. We remind ourselves to take a moment to reflect and celebrate all the reasons we are thankful to be here on this earth. No matter where you are, I hope you will also find a moment to reflect on your own reasons for being thankful. I include you in my many reasons for being thankful this very special year.

I also want to thank you all for bearing with me. There have been a few personal issues I have needed to take care of here. I think, for now, these issues will be ongoing, so I beg you to please stay with me. My studio time has been very limited, so you might see a few other things appearing from time to time. I am thankful for you all.

New Art Mural Wallpaper Website Launched

A new art and mural wallpaper company has been launched this week that aims to blur the lines between wallpaper design and art. The company, MuralsWallpaper.co.uk, aims to create exciting new possibilities and a new way of thinking when it comes to interior design. By offering unique services including art wallpaper murals and a service where you can get your own bespoke wallpaper designed and created just for you, the company aims to revolutionise the way of thinking when it comes to decorating homes and commercial premises in a unique way.

The company is looking to bring together designers and artists who can offer their skills and services to create original designs and art murals that can be sold as wallpaper permanently on the new website. A few artists are already contributing works, and the company is now looking for even more unique and interesting creative’s to contribute designs. The website could also prove a good money-earner for artists, as all profits on sales are split evenly between muralswallpaper.co.uk who manufacture the wallpaper, and the artists who design them.

MuralsWallpaper.co.uk has been developed by the team behind the art community website Artybuzz.com. The creators feel that this new project will be of great interest to artists who would like their work created and shown in new and interesting areas. The concept is also an interesting offshoot from the current print on demand service offered by the team.

For artists and designers who are interested in getting involved and having their work produced and sold as murals wallpaper, they simply need to visit the website at www.muralswallpaper.co.uk and get in touch if they would like their work to be considered.

Research Time

From time to time I find it is necessary for me to spend time doing some research in and out of the studio. The next two weeks or so I am going to be in the middle of this, so my time here on the blog may be even more sparse. I am so excited about these explorations and will be sharing them with you as I move forward. Thank you for bearing with me, however it is all in the name of art. You might even hear about this from some other artists…then again, you might not!

If you enjoy a White Christmas, you would love being in my area this year. Five days ago, we had two feet of snow and today our road has just been cleared. This means our last minute holiday preps are really, really last minute! This is a photo taken when looking out my back door!
